Paul Long, ANIAN
Tell us about your company and what inspired you to start it?
I wanted to create a company that inspired others and myself to view problems differently. ANIÁN focuses on creating clothing out of post consumer waste with the idea of showing the world that circular fashion & circular business is not only possible but it is the future.
How specifically does it relate to sustainable design, production and/or consumption?
Design, production and consumption for a very long time were based on long lasting fixable productions. However that has changed in the recent past & this is where ANIÁN hopes to re-balance the system. ANIÁN is showing that with a slight change in mindset, what others view as trash can be useful once again.
What community or customer behaviors are you hoping to create or reinforce?
We hope to create a customer base that views problems with a new light, one that does not see problems but rather challenges. By doing this we reinforce the idea that creativity and mindset can solve even the most complex problems.
What is one of the most helpful or enlightening lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Just keep going, there are so many problems we face on a daily basis & you can't get bogged down with them all. Just keep getting up every day and trying to find creative solutions to problems.
What’s the biggest problem you’re currently trying to solve?
Red tape, there is so much of it & it is everywhere we go, then there is also the same problems every business is dealing with at the moment, mass inflation, supply chain, staffing…. But all businesses are dealing with these problems.
